(THE ORIGINAL RANCH)
LAKEWOOD, NEW MEXICO
The lot you are staying on belongs to one of our leaseholders. Please respect their property and do not attempt to enter their buildings or store any items on their porch or patio.
Please remember to exit to the left when leaving the lot with your rig.
Blocks must be placed under leveling jacks. If you do not have blocks, please check with the office.
Speed limit is 10 miles per hour.
We are located in the Chihuahuan Desert. Snakes live in the desert and are often seen here, so be alert.
The washing of vehicles & RV's only with a bucket - no hoses.
We do have windy con ditions on many days. Awnings should not be left out when you are not in the park.
The Ranch is in a high desert setting amid agricultural operations, near the foothills of the Guadalupe Mountains. We are 22 miles north of Carlsbad and 16 miles south of Artesia. Both cities have up-to-date medical facilities and are fully staffed. Artesia also has a Veterans Administration Clinic.
The Ranch has 118 lots and a large dry camp area. Our Ranch House (Club House) has a will-equipped kitchen, a pool table, a large meeting room with a stage, and the sunroom offers airy congeniality for small groups and evening games.
The fence surrounding the Ranch is electrified to keep the cattle out, so watch out...it bites.
In the Sunroom are puzzles, crafts, and a Flea Market table as well as information for the surrounding area.
We seem to be the major supporter of the Post Office. Turn left on Lakewood Rd. The Post Office is located across the railroad tracks on the left. Buy stamps and receive your general delivery.
You may experience a methane gas-like smell due to our close proximity to oil wells.
The grassy common area extending from behind the office to the arroyo and other landscaped common areas, especially the Wedge are for the enjoyment of everyone. Do utilize them.
We frequently hear and see coyotes. We have a resident Great Horned Owl which sits in one of the trees behind the Ranch House and watches us. Road Runners are often seen seeking their next meal.
We are known as the friendliest group in the whole SKP system. Come and get you hugs and see for yourself. Our activities will keep you hopping or you can sit and rock in our wonderful rocking chairs on the Ranch House porch.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask our managers or assistant managers. They will be glad to assist you.
We hope you enjoy your stay at the Ranch and come back soon.
